About the Programme
The YORJA Peace Acorns Programme is a virtual, three-month training and development initiative designed to empower African youth (ages 18–35) as active agents in peacebuilding and transitional justice. Rooted in the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP), the programme addresses the historical exclusion of young people—who are often both victims and instigators of conflict—by equipping them with practical knowledge and skills for meaningful engagement.
It combines a one-month intensive training, featuring group assignments on real-time African conflicts, with a two-month peer-to-peer mentorship component involving hands-on experience with YORJA. Open to English and French-speaking African youth globally, the initiative aims to foster informed, significant and sustainable participation of young people in transitional justice, build a collaborative network, and promote local ownership of transitional justice processes across the continent.
