Transitional Justice Forum

The 7th African Transitional Justice Forum

September 2023 | Rabat, Morocco

The 7th African Transitional Justice Forum kicked off from 12th - 14th September 2023 in Rabat, Morocco. This year's theme "Inclusion & Participatory Governance, Gender Equality and Socio-Economic Justice in Africa" was timely and appropriate. YORJA was pleased to have been a panelist at the forum speaking on meaningful inclusion for youth and children: moving away from victimhood to active participation as a tool for non-occurrence. It was an insightful session that highlighted the unique experiences of youth and children during conflict and transition, and the importance of giving them a voice in the process of rebuilding their communities. We also discussed some of the challenges that youth and children face in participating in transitional justice processes, and offered some recommendations on how to overcome these challenges.

The forum provided an incredible platform for us to exchange ideas, experiences, and best practices with experts and stakeholders from all over Africa. It's inspiring to witness the dedication and commitment of everyone involved in promoting justice, reconciliation, and healing in our communities.
At YORJA, we believe in the power of inclusive dialogue and the role of the younger generation in shaping a brighter future. Our commitment to transitional justice and human rights remains steadfast.

A heartfelt thanks to the organizers, fellow panelists, and all attendees for this enriching experience. Let's continue working together to ensure that the voices of youth and children are heard and valued in the pursuit of justice and peace. To all the Families affected by the recent earthquake, our hearts are with you.
